IMPLEMENTATION OF POPIA COMPLIANCE IN THE PUBLISHING OF GAZETTE NOTICES

The Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) of 2013 became fully effective on 1 July 2020 as a mandatory requirement for all organisations to comply with. As an organisation Government Printing Works is required to comply with POPI requirements in all its operations, including the publishing of the gazette notices. According to Section 11 (a) Personal Information may only be processed if the Data Subject consents to the processing, and with this regard the Government Printing Works will require the Data Subject’s consent to accompany all notices submitted for publishing where there is Personal Information, using Form 4.
